Why do so many recruitment consultants ignore data protection?
In this world of litigation its amazing that a recruiter hasn't been prosecuted for breaking the law. So many will present candidate details with no regard for the legal position or indeed the morality of representing someone they have never spoken to or discussed the vacancy with. Some time ago we looked at joining rec whose mission statement is admiral but then you look at some of the members and you know who you are and you think why would we associate ourselves with them.
They cheat lie and do anything for a fee or and break the law.
I think we all deserve better and we should name those who do this... What do you think?

Nice article.Thanks for sharing.
Interesting piece, I question your wisdom of not joining REC. If you believe that the industry is unclean and therefore you are in danger of having your image tarnished by association then maybe you should join the party and create change from within. If you stand on the out side looking in nothing will change.
Most candidates will believe, if they know there is an industry body, that you, as a reputable company are part of the industry body and therefore wether you are in or out your reputation will be affected by REC's.
You will be doing yourselves and candidates a favour by rooting out the bad guys in YOUR industry.
I have had first hand experience of this.
In terms of naming and shaming:
Mtrec (the worst as they forward on details and advertise fake jobs)
Jonas
Reed
Zest (2nd worst!)
I have no industry affiliation whatsoever, I am a candidate that has seen their CV paraded around employers without any prior knowledge. I have since found out that this has occured and delisted myself from these recruitment companies.
Beware to all!
Thanks
