Fast Moving Consumer Goods Jobs

Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), are products that are used on a daily basis either because they perish quickly or simply because of high consumer demand.

Foods such as meat, fruit or dairy products are examples of goods that have a short shelf life and so there is a strong incentive for retailers to promote their sales to prevent profit loss. Products such as soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and confectionery benefit from a high consumer demand and as a result there is strong competition between rival brands.

Other factors leading to the highly competitive nature of FMCGs are low cost, frequent purchase and high volumes. In order to manage such an aggressive market this sector is reliant on positions in marketing, sales and supply chain.

Many companies are increasing their investment into the FMCG industry. For example in India FMCG is the fourth largest sector, with a market worth $13 billion. Leading FMCG companies include Nestlé, Coca-Cola and Carlsberg who rely on positions in HR, packaging and planning.
