One of the largest production facilities in Berkshire is that of Mars Chocolate in Slough. In 1932 Forrest E. Mars came to Slough from America, where the Mars bar had already been a great success. Within a year the new confectionery proved to be just as successful in the UK. Today the Mars plant in Slough provides over 1,000 food jobs in manufacturing, management and food technology.
