Ireland is home to some major international food companies as well as several smaller food suppliers. Don't be surprised to find that there is more to Ireland than drinking and dancing, it is home to one of the largest international exporters of chocolate as well as several major producers of cheese.

Food Businesses in Ireland

Greencore Group are a leading convenience food manufacturer based in Dublin. They are made up of 12 sites in the UK and two in the United States, employing over 7,400 people. They produce products for several high profile brands including Heinz pickles, Bisto Yorkshire puddings and Sutherland sandwich spreads. There are opportunities for food hygiene, food manufacturing and food management.

Cadbury have been producing chocolate in Ireland since 1933 and now have three production facilities in the country; Coolock, Rathmore and Tallaght. New product development in the 1970s led to the creation of several brands including Twirl, Chomp and Eclairs in order to compete with the European market. Cadbury Ireland now produce over 200 products and export them all over the world. Look for vacancies in new product development, food technology and food planning.

Perhaps the most famous Irish export is Guinness, the instantly recognisable black stout. It is brewed in Dublin at the St. James's Gate Brewery which was founded in 1759. The company is owned by Diageo which is the world's largest producer of spirits and a major producer of beer and wine. You can expect to find jobs in human resources, marketing and supply chain.

The heart of Irish culture is the pub, where you can listen to live music, eat a plate of colcannon with a pint of Guinness, and enjoy the craic.
