Assistant Buyer

Job Description

Our client, a leading food manufacturer, has a vacancy for an Assistant Buyer within the Purchasing Team reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

The successful candidate will play a key role by assisting the Purchasing Manager to deliver the Purchasing and Supplier strategy for the business. The role also involves supporting the Purchasing Manager to drive cost initiatives and ensuring security of supply for the company.

The ideal candidate for this position will have Commercial awareness and an appreciation of Purchasing, either through experience or academic study. Environmental awareness through study, experience or personal interest is also vital in supporting the business in its ability to deliver its environmental responsibilities.

In order to be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate a real desire to learn and develop a career within the Purchasing function. Key to your success will be the ability to develop and sustain credible working relationships with key stakeholders to enable business objectives to be met.

You must also be able to prioritise effectively to ensure that you are able to deliver the day-to-day administrative support to the department in addition to delivering time defined projects that generate significant benefits to the business.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or experience in a food manufacturing environment. Chilled food experience would be an advantage.
