Sales Manager, UK Market

Job Description

This company is a specialist manufacturer of flavourings and extracts, highly regarded around the world for its extraction and process technologies and consequent flavour compositions.

As Sales Manager and a senior player in this business this role will have a high degree of autonomy strategically and be accountable for developing the UK market. Reporting to the Head of Sales & Marketing, who is based in mainland Europe, the appointee will identify and develop new business sectors from bakery and confectionery to dairy and beverages providing the technical expertise to enable R&D teams to create and develop commercially viable applications. Creativity and flexibility in approach are critical as the company provides customised not catalogued products.

Whilst technically competent in the specialism of flavourings and/or ingredients, the successful applicant will also need to have excellent interpersonal skills. As the role embraces the supply chain at large, you will be working very closely with a number of departments, particularly R&D / NPD, Marketing, Production and Purchasing, so your communications skills and ability to work cross functionally will need to be tightly honed. You will be expected to achieve budgeted sales profits whilst building long-term relationships and ensuring customer needs are profitability achieved.

Located ideally along the M6 or A1 corridor, this role does require flexibility to travel regularly to the company's Head Office in Paris. A graduate in food technology or sciences, you will need to have upwards of five years' commercial experience, ideally in sweet flavourings but savoury or food ingredients will also be considered. A secondary European language is a plus but not essential.
