Bakkavor Caledonian is looking to expand its NPD department with the appointment of an experienced Development Manager to help spearhead the team.

Job Description

Premium own label product development experience is required, along with a clear passion for food, to take on this dedicated M&S product portfolio.

You will be working closely with the M&S category team to ensure new and exciting products continue to tempt us. You will need to have experience of developing own label chilled products, ideally at the premium end of the market - M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury - and enjoy the challenge of combining food innovation with commercial viability. With an obvious passion for food, you will thrive on pushing boundaries in terms of products and processes and have a track record of successful range extensions.

The brief here is about keeping ahead of the competition whilst delivering budgeted margins - so you will need to demonstrate the principles of category management and consumer awareness in order to achieve that competitive edge. As you will be working very closely with M&S Developers, your influencing and interpersonal skills will need to be strong. Man management experience is also preferred, as you will be responsible for motivating and developing a team of NPD professionals.
