Job Description

A great opportunity for an experienced NPD Chef to develop chilled products for M&S.

One of the UK's leading chilled food manufacturers requires an experienced Chef with or without manufacturing experience to join an established NPD team. Ideally you will have developed products for the retail chilled food market and have a proven track record of delivering innovation with first to market ideas. You will need to demonstrate a passion for food, a talent for creativity and flair. Excellent communication skills together with good organisational and interpersonal ability are necessary, and you must be able to influence and educate through your culinary knowledge and delivery of great products demonstrating a real understanding of global food trends and ingredients. This is an environment that encourages fresh ideas and new thinking; however it must be backed up with culinary skill and know-how.

Expectations and standards are set high, therefore only Chefs who have held senior positions in kitchens that are recognised for their consistency and quality will be considered. A genuine understanding of true product seasonality, ingredient provenance and diverse cuisines, plus the talent to be completely open in your approach to cooking will be considered. This is a great opportunity to utilise your culinary craft skills to influence M&S supermarket shelves. You will be supported by an experienced NPD team who have a real hunger for exploring new product innovation, and a proven track record of challenging the accepted norms.

We are looking for a Chef who
· Has reached at least Sous Chef level in kitchens recognised for their consistency and quality
minimum 2 AA Rosette level
· Has a genuine love for cooking and can demonstrate a high level of skill and culinary
techniques
· A broad ranging knowledge of core ingredients and food trends
· An understanding of global flavours - perhaps from working abroad or in an international
kitchen
· Is a supportive team player who naturally can share and inspire
· Has a determination to succeed
· The ability to work within set timescales and cost parameters
· A basic understanding of costings
· Computer literate
· Car driver
