A first rate Commercial/Sales Manager is sought by this successful European food producer seeking to further develop its penetration of the UK Market – both retail and Biz-to-Biz accounts.

The UK company is a wholly owned subsidiary of a privately owned business in the Netherlands, based near Eindhoven.  An international organisation, it develops and produces a range of ambient, grocery products primarily under private label for supermarkets such as Tesco.  It also produces and packs for third party manufacturers.

The company is offering the opportunity for the appointee to be home-based, as their accounts will based across the UK & Ireland.  However, you will be expected to visit the Head Office on a monthly basis to progress NPD programmes and other projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the formulation of the sales strategy, forecasting and realization of sales targets;
  • Initiate new business opportunities in product-market combinations;
  • Negotiate prices, promotion and product propositions;
  • Production of management reports;·   
  • Working closely with Dutch colleagues in NPD, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Purchase.

Key skills required:

  • Previous FMCG  sales experience ideally in  the UK food business with a  thorough knowledge of the own label UK retail sector;
  • A track record of setting and achieving realistic sales targets including margin optimization;
  • Experience of developing significant business with at least one of the UK’s top 5 retailers;
  • Ability to identify relevant sales channels to maximize the product portfolio
  • Flexibility to adapt commercials to meet needs of different sales channels.

Excellent communication skills, and a strong commercial drive supported by sound business insight are sought to be truly effective in this role.  The ability to work independently, initially, is essential.

A highly autonomous role, CVs are sought from highly motivated individuals with the drive to develop not only customers’ business, but also the UK sales team over the next two-four years.
