Job Description

The client is a multinational, multi product giant who produces huge numbers of products each week for all of the major retailers. These roles will be responsible for managing the purchasing of resources so that the business’ supply costs and exposure are minimised whilst supplier performance is maximised.  It will be important for the Buyer to provide purchasing expertise to the business in the delivery of its objectives and to support the companies purchasing strategies.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Cost Management - To manage site specific purchase costs and prices on all materials and suppliers to ensure costs are optimised and targets are met
• Functional Expertise – To provide expertise for the business and assisting colleagues
• Supplier Management - Investigate commercial packages from suppliers, carry out supplier appraisals and make recommendations for medium term contracts for specific products and supplier base, showing impact on the business unit
• Category & Group Delivery – To ensure that supply objectives are understood for group supply categories and to participate in the effective delivery and utilisation of group contracts through support and involvement.

The ideal candidate will have previous buying experience within a FMCG and ideally food environment. Commercial awareness is important and forging strong relationships with suppliers will be key to ensuring quality is kept up and cost down.
