Job Description
Our client has a blue chip reputation with multiple sites, within a fast paced food manufacturing environment. They are a market leader producing branded and own-label household named food products. The business is looking for a Demand Planner, reporting into the Site Manager who wants to progress their career with a growth product category. My Client has a successful track record of career progression.
The role of demand planner is critical to bringing together intelligence from a number of sources and creating a demand forecast that will be used to plan the businesses manufacturing and purchasing activities.
This has to be carried out by creating strong relationships within business functions and with its customers, then using these relationships to gather information to create an accurate Demand Forecast.
The key measure is forecast accuracy.
Key responsibilities:Â Â
- Maintain an accurate base forecast in Manugistics based on history.
- Hold regular monthly meetings with Customer Managers to gather intelligence on events which will impact on the forecasts of products.
- Hold meetings with marketing, customer services and category management to ensure forecasts reflect any planned events.
- Maintain strong close relationships with the Customer Managers so communication continues informally between monthly S&OP meetings.
- Measure forecast accuracy at the agreed level by account so this can be fed back to the business.
- Build a strong understanding of customer supply chain processes and where applicable the use of customer website links to extract information that improves understanding of customer demand. This will include meeting the customer stock controllers on an appropriately regular basis.
- Track events (new listings, promotions etc..) through EPOS.
- Managing short term issues through Demand Control.
Key essentials:
- Strong communication skills as dealing with the Sales Team and Customers.
- Presentable as will meet customers face to face.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage large amounts of data.
- Capable of persuading people to their points of view based on facts.
- Computer literate â ability to build spreadsheets, navigate Business to Business websites.
- After training - able to interact with company forecasting, reporting and planning systems.
