Job Description

Our client is a leading supplier to one of the UK’s major retailer, and they have joined forces, agreeing to embed a skilled Chef at the retail head office. This is a fantastic chance for an NPD  (New Product Development) Chef to gain a real insight to the mechanics of working from a retail perspective.  This retailer has ambitious plans for product improvement and growth, which are already well underway. It is an exciting time for all concerned but you will need to be able to work with pace and manage multiple projects.

As one of the Development Chefs on site you will work as part of a team but will need to be able to be a self starter happy to take the initiative working on your own translate from brief, and also work on new innovation projects. You will work across a number of product categories therefore your Chef skills, ingredient and tend knowledge needs to be broad and up to date. You will be setting the standards that the retail supply base will need to achieve. You will consider core ingredients, cooking methods and cooking technologies.   

Your cv will need to demonstrate that you have sustained periods of employment in respected kitchens perhaps AA Rosette or Michelin rated. We are looking for Chefs with diverse experience not at all niche in any one sector, perhaps a mix of fine dining, large scale banqueting, gastro pub or high end contract catering, international experience is also desirable. It is important that you are well presented and able to work in an organised calm and methodical manner, with a level of computer literacy.

To be successful in this role you will need excellent Chef skills, a passion for food, with a educated palette, able to recognise what good really looks and tastes like and have the focus and tenacity to translate recipes into commercially viable retail products.

This role is commutable of a number of highly desirable residential areas in Yorkshire.
