In this role you will scope, design, coordinate and carry out scientific experiments on model food products to understand and predict their behaviour and quality attributes. Your work will contribute directly to the delivery of project milestones in giving essential scientific inputs to the development of the products.

In this role you will interact with a team of highly skilled scientists passionate about the mysteries the product category. You will work independently whilst also being part of multi-disciplinary project teams, with moderate travel to other sites. You will have a technical leadership role with elements of coaching in your dealings with other R&D employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scope and design scientific projects to address specific objectives linked to business needs.
  • Coordinate and carry out sample preparation and controlled experiments to test working hypotheses
  • Develop new methodologies and characterisation methods
  • Create and use a network of external resources to address research needs (universities, suppliers, etc.)
  • Prepare and write advanced technical reports and present at international meetings
  • Recommend technology solutions and new areas of research based on scientific insights.

Ideally you will be a skilled scientist with a passion for research and a determination to apply science to confectionery products. Supported by a drive for unravelling the structural and functional properties of food and you will be keen to carry out the necessary experiments and analyses. It is essential that you hold a university degree in a scientific discipline, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry or Physics, or in Food Science and Technology. In addition you will have a proven track record of successes in a research and development department.
