Summary
This is an exciting time for an ambitious Operations Manager to a join a FTSE 100 food manufacturing company.
Our client has a blue chip reputation with multiple sites, within a fast paced food manufacturing environment. They are a market leader producing branded and own-label household named food products.
Due to an internal promotion the business is looking for a Mill Manager, reporting into the Site General Manager who wants to progress their career with a growth product category. My Client has a successful track record of career progression.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that all products are produced in a safe manner and to the correct standard. Leading and directing the Operations team to delivering the Operations Plan. To lead, direct, motivate and manage the performance of individuals and the team as a whole and to direct, drive and implement continuous improvement and sponsor change.
Key Responsibilities include:
Safety: Promote a proactive safety culture to continuously improve health and safety performance. Ensure that all vehicles, plant and personnel operate in a safe manner and comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, standards and procedures.
Quality: Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice targets are achieved and processes are adhered to. Direct the Continuous Improvement process to optimise quality and cost savings through performance data analysis and action management.
People Management: Identify and implement the most effective use of labour. Develop the Operations team in line with the site vision and objectives. Ensure effective communication within all areas of responsibility.
Operations: Ensure Business Compliance to Company standards. Ensure full delivery of production plans. Ensure the organisation of plant and manpower to optimally achieve production targets. Plan with Engineering team to ensure effective asset care and achievement of planned maintenance targets. Ensure Lean Manufacturing Practices are developed and observed.
Stock Control and Waste Management: Identify areas for improvement within stock control process. Timely and accurate recording of stock and it reconciliation. Minimise all waste material and service resources. Drive the planning process to minimise stock levels and stock write off risk while maximising labour utilisation and ensuring 100% customer service levels.
Budgets: Prepare and agree with Site Manager all elements of the production forecast including manning and line hrs required. Manage performances against the daily/weekly departmental operating budgets and forecast. Liaise with planning to deliver to forecast recovery.

- Qualification in relevant discipline with post graduate relevant experience, or broad experience at management level within FMCG production.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making - excellent numerical and literacy skills to analyse, understand and develop sustainable improvements.
- Make key decisions within defined parameters of budget and expenditure levels.
- Requires an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills, that can engage at all levels both internally and externally.
