Raw Materials Manager

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Raw Materials Manager to join a huge food manufacturing facility supplying a number of the major retailers with a brood product range, in the South East.

Job Description

This business is a multi-sited, multi-product food giant with sites all across the UK. They are innovation led and quality driven and are seen as market leaders in a number of area’s and raw material management plays a large part in this. This specific site manufactures a well-received chilled food offering to the UK’s major retailers. This business has a proven track record of developing its employees through a structured career path.

The overall purpose of this role is to manage all aspects of the raw materials from risk assessment to supplier approval. The role accountabilities include:

• Manage & sign off of raw materials risk assessments
• Manage the raw material specifications ensuring sign off by Process Development for quality attributes and Technical for food safety ensuring compliance with all retailer requirements
• Develop a system for supplier performance appraisals and appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
• Design and Develop a procedure for the introduction of new raw materials and change of suppliers.
• Manage all internal and external incidences relating to raw materials

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and knowledge of raw materials within the food industry. A food science qualification will be desirable as will experience of managing a small team.
