It is widely recognised to produce the finest products in the world and its trading categories have won in excess of 50 awards over recent years. It’s products appeal to a fast growing category of consumers, but the quality and innovation in the range does not mean it is limited to a health-focused audience. The brand is known, loved and respected in its sector, and has the potential to be dominant in this growing vibrant category. It already supplies several well-known high street names and has a thriving export market.

The new MD will be responsible for the business strategy over the coming years and for ensuring effective implementation of the strategy in the Commercial, Operational and Financial areas within the agreed corporate objectives, with a focus to drive customer relationships, profit, volume, quality, sustainability and the people agenda.

The MD will recognise the potential of the brand and products and be passionate about ensuring that the business fulfils that opportunity. They will have the necessary commercial, financial, operational, planning and people skills to enable this to occur.

It is essential they have a detailed understanding of the context of their business, where it sits in the market, the trends, challenges and opportunities it faces. To develop a proactive commercial strategy that enthuses the customers and is practical for delivery.

They will organise and deliver the resources available to the business to maximise performance against targets. Will be seen by the customers as a highly capable and credible leader who they can rely upon to deliver for them and provide competitive edge. Developing an operational strategy for the business with a focus on excellence in manufacturing, quality, sales, financials and logistics.

The successful candidate, will have a proven track record of managing similar transitions in owner managed food manufacturers. An experienced Senior Operator who understands the fundamentals of business, customers, and all associated disciplines. Financially and commercially astute, they will be profit and growth focused. Their expertise may come from either a commercial or operational background. What they require is the ability to take on the Managing Director role and lead a multi-disciplined team with credibility and energy. A confident individual with lots of energy. Someone of graduate calibre, who has a strong entrepreneurial flair, seeing business opportunities and taking positive action to transfer these into achievable goals.

You will be an independent thinker who enjoys autonomy but will respect the faith placed in them by the board, recognising the importance of gaining support and maintaining it from all interested parties. You will be a team developer and coach, facilitating an open and trusting environment where individuals are prepared to take the initiative and responsibility for their actions, where their endeavours are recognised and rewarded accordingly. Also you will be robust and resilient, being able to demonstrate that they have the mental fortitude to take the hard knocks and learn from mistakes.
