This role is based at their flagship business and having visited their site, I can genuinely recommend the working environment. The purpose of this role is to lead a team that drives implementation of the European Packaging Strategy to drive lowest cost, delivery on time, support for business activities and effective supplier relationship management. This is a line management role with a European remit and a budget of circa £170million. The key accountabilities of this role are:
Packaging Strategy
- Key contributor to the European Packaging buying strategy to maximise value from the supply base.
- Lead the supplier management of all packing suppliers across Europe.Cost reduction
- Lead the commercial contribution on cost reduction for packaging.
- Lead the commercial requirements for supplier flexibility across the sites.
Leadership of Buying Operations community
- Lead and motivate site packaging buying managers to engage them in the Commercial strategy
- Lead the development of Packaging Buying Operations strategy
- Connect and Influence the team and business stakeholders to deliver efficient ways of working.
Activity Management
- Manage the Commercial contribution for packaging into all business processes.
- Represent packaging on key business meetings.
This position requires someone with a proven track record of purchasing (ideally packaging) and managing large budgets within a FMCG environment. You will need to be able to show evidence of successful continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives. Additionally, you will have the ability to lead, engage and develop a team. Finally, a degree is required, ideally within a business field.
