This is a great opportunity to take on and develop a new role in this international business which is growing rapidly and is developing new products and new markets. This new position is a key role in the strategic development of the organisation. Ideally, you will be based in the North West of the UK, but we are prepared for the individual to be located anywhere across Western Europe. There will be regular travel to Africa to the manufacturing facilities and this will need to be worked into your monthly plan.

You will report to the Managing Director who is based in Africa and will be part of his senior management team. You will be accountable for a wide range of ingredients to meet forward sales projections.

Specific accountabilities include the purchasing of Dairy raw materials, especially Milk Powders (SMP, WMP), Butter Milk powder, AMF, and other bulk Dairy Products as required, e.g. fat filled whey powder.

We also anticipate this individual taking responsibility for other raw materials, including flavours, cultures, and other ingredients for the factories. In this procurement role, you will agree purchasing requirements with the operations teams, especially the Operations and Logistics managers. It is also important that you define the raw material specifications for the product range through agreement with all stakeholders in the business.

You will ensure that raw materials meet specifications as defined above and get sign off from your Technical team to guarantee that all raw materials meet the functional product specifications.

You will manage all contracts in a professional and comprehensive manner and ensure the integrity of suppliers with regard to contract fulfilment. In this new buying position you will also deal with day to day issues as they arise with vendors and be responsible for vendors performance, judged by agreed KPI's that you will set.
