Job Description

As Senior Fermentation Technologist, you are responsible for initiating and managing product development projects leading to new and reformulated products ensuring product performance and operational efficiencies, location Steenvoorde (France) / Wageningen (The Netherlands).

Danone Research – Centre for Specialised Nutrition is a state-of-the-art life sciences innovation centre for the development of new product concepts for Baby Nutrition and Medical Nutrition. They create formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers – infants, toddlers, elderly and patients. Their products are marketed under the brand names Nutricia, Milupa, SHS and Blédina, amongst others. Capitalising on numerous international preclinical and clinical collaborations, they aim to identify new nutritional intervention opportunities and develop innovative product forms. Danone has R&D facilities worldwide, with major centres in The Netherlands (Wageningen, Zoetermeer and Cuijk), France (Palaiseau, Steenvoorde), Germany (Friedrichsdorf) and UK (Liverpool). The centre in The Netherlands will move to Utrecht in 2013. For Danone Research, Department Product Development Immunity & Allergy for Baby Nutrition we are currently searching a dedicated Senior Fermentation Technologist.

 

Position

  • Responsible for initiating and managing product development projects leading to new and reformulated products ensuring product performance and operational efficiencies 
  • Developing innovative baby food produced with the use of fermentation technology, ensuring that the product complies with nutritional, sensorical, physical and chemical requirements and fulfils the needs of the end user
  • Leading a project to increase the knowledge base of fermentation technology and the optimisation of fermentation processes; manage the implementation in the wider organisation
  • Following trends and technological developments and translating these into new product and process opportunities
  • Working intensively with colleagues from Research, Marketing and Operations
  • Reporting to the Manager Formulations and Processes

 

Profile

  • Academic level in Food Science and Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology or alike
  • Several years of work experience in fermentation technology and product and/or process development in Food, Pharma or Biotechnology
  • Proven project management skills, used to working in project teams with set targets and time frames
  • Good communication and presentation skills in both English and French
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic organisation, with various functional disciplines at several locations, frequent presence in Steenvoorde is required
  • Personal skills: self motivated, results driven, ownership, analytic and creative mind, convincing, enthusiastic and team player.
