Award for Ben & Jerry's and new cocktail pouches from Malibu
The "Good Dairy" award has been given to Ben & Jerry's in recognition of their commitment to animal welfare. The Caring Dairy programme ensures the health and well-being of the milk-producing cows.
Ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's have won a prestigious industry 'Good Dairy' award.
The award recognises Ben and Jerry's commitment to sustainable dairy through their Caring Dairy programme - presented by the 'Compassion In World Farming' family.
The Good Dairy Award has been introduced this year to celebrate the achievement and commitment by organisations within the dairy industry, and this award recognises high levels of animal welfare along with progressive, measurable schemes for both cows and calves.
The Ben & Jerry's Caring Dairy programme is based on three principles; Happy Cows, Happy Farmers and Happy Planet.
Ben & Jerry's believe caring for their cow's health and well-being is not only good for the cow, but "improves the overall performance of a farm too."
With reduced risk of illness, cows produce better quality milk and better quality milk means better tasting ice cream.
Following the announcement of winning the award, Ben & Jerry's European Social Mission Manager, Ilaria Ida, said:
"We are udderly delighted to have won a Good Dairy Award.
"We have been working very closely with our farmers in the Netherlands to ensure we provide the best conditions for our cows.
"We are delighted with the support the farmers have given to our Caring Dairy programme, and it's their effort throughout the initiative that has enabled us to win this award."

Malibu have introduced a selection of pre-mixed cocktails in cans and also in larger pouches, designed for sharing. The pre-mixed format should appeal to consumers because of their convenience and also demonstrate the versatility of the coconut rum.
Malibu, the Caribbean rum, is launching a new range of new pre-mixed serves into the off-trade from July.
The cocktail combinations in pouches are designed for sharing, while the smaller can format contains Malibu blended with popular mixers to encourage trial.
Developed to provide consumers with more convenient ways to enjoy Malibu, the new pre-mixed drinks also aim to demonstrate the versatility of coconut rum, provide inspiration for new serves and achieve a stronger stand-out on shelf.
The new, colourful and lightweight pouches are available in two SKUs: Island Punch Cocktail and Caribbean Cosmo Cocktail.
Each pouch holds 1 litre at 12.5% ABV and has an RRP of £12.99.
The pack design includes an in-built tap and carry-handle for convenience, making it a proposition for retailers looking to capitalise on the convenience and sharing opportunity.
The launch of the pouches will be supported with investment in print, online and out-of-home advertising.
Malibu is also launching pre-mixed serves in a 250ml can format to encourage trial and further demonstrate its versatility.
Malibu & Cola and Malibu & Cranberry will be available through off-trade channels from July with an RRP of £1.99 (5% vol, 250ml).
The can format will be supported with in-store, online and customer media activations, as well as a Facebook campaign to encourage trial.
Patrick Venning, head of marketing for Malibu at Pernod Ricard UK, said:
"These two new pack innovations from Malibu provide an exciting proposition for consumers looking to try new serve suggestions in a convenient and portable format.
"The pre-mixed serves showcase the versatility of Malibu and the colourful, eye-catching design appeals to our target audience who are style-savvy consumers that enjoy sharing new products with their friends."
