Snowy Peaks coming for Toblerone while Staropramen adopted by Carlsberg UK

Triangular Toblerone will launch a new range featuring a milk chocolate version topped with white chocolate, suggesting the snow topped peaks of the Swiss Alps. From August, Carlsberg UK gains the licence to import and distribute the Czech lager Staropramen. The new beer joins Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Tetley's, San Miguel and Tuborg as part of Carlsberg UK's portfolio of beers.

Toblerone Launches New Snow Top Bars
The peaks of Toblerone are to get a frosty topping from September, with the launch of new Toblerone Snow Top 100g tablet.
The launch sees Toblerone's triangular chunks of chocolate topped with a white chocolate "snow top", giving a look of the Alps in winter and celebrating the brand's Swiss heritage.
Combining the tastes of milk and white chocolate, the new and unique product hopes to attract attention by bringing something completely different to the fast-growing home consumption tablet market.
It also aims to get customers talking about the brand while encourage sales from those wanting to try the new variation of the product.
Toblerone will be supported by a £4 million UK marketing investment this year, including TV, print and outdoor advertising and online activation in an attempt to bring the brand to life for consumers.
Kate Knight, senior brand manager at Kraft Foods UK, said:
"Toblerone is completely different to anything else in the market, and consumers love its unique shape and distinctive flavour.
"Snow Top is a fresh new format for the brand, which we hope will appeal to both loyal customers and new fans alike.
"Chocolate combinations are already incredibly popular in the market, and brings another great option for people who can't decide between milk and white!"
Launching in September, the new Snow Top format hopes to appeal as a seasonal Christmas gift, pushing sales around the key sales period for convectional products.

Carlsberg UK Adds Staropramen to Portfolio
Carlsberg UK has announced it will be adding Staropramen to its portfolio.
From 14 August 2011 Carlsberg UK will take on the exclusive rights to import, market and distribute the 5% ABV Czech lager on behalf of brand owners StarBev.
Staropramen is the original Czech lager and already commands a significant position in the market - it is currently the number three draught World Beer in the UK.
Commenting in this announcement, Dr Isaac Sheps, chief executive of Carlsberg UK said:
"We are very excited to add a beer of the quality of Staropramen to our unrivalled portfolio.
"This reiterates our ambition to continue to grow market share in the UK and underlines our determination to be the leading player in the fast-growing World Beer category."
The deal will hope to confirm Carlsberg UK's position as the biggest UK brewer in the World Beer category.
With three out of the top four World Beer brands in the On Trade now part of Carlsberg UK's portfolio, it will give it an overall 32% UK market share in that category.
The other two are San Miguel, which is the number one World Beer in the Off Trade, and Tuborg.
Dr Sheps added: "We are mindful of Staropramen's strong Czech heritage and we intend to use that to drive the brand to great heights in both on and off-trade in the UK.
"We look forward to working together with our new partners and with our customers to grow the brand in the UK."
"Our partnership with Carlsberg UK is a strategic one and is meant to add significantly to the international development of Staropramen, our flagship brand.
"We look forward to working together with our UK partner to this end."
The addition of Staropramen underlines the growing strength of the Carlsberg UK portfolio.
It will sit along side existing brands such as Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Tetley's, San Miguel and Tuborg as part of one of the most powerful, diverse and dynamic beer portfolios in the UK.
All existing customers will be informed about the upcoming change in writing, and Carlsberg UK will commence deliveries on 14 August.
