Over 600 jobs to be created
A recent building and planning permission approval by Sedgemoor Council may see the creation of over 600 jobs.
The warehouse will see a number of jobs created to work in the
preparation of food for various stores, along with storage.
Following the closure of the Coop distribution centre in summer
2010, it is expected that a large number of the 700 redundancies
will be employed by Morrisons.
Whilst the employment opportunities created by this leading food
retailer are being seen as positive by many, some remain slightly
pessimistic commenting that these new jobs will only compensate for
the jobs lost last year rather than create 'new'
opportunities.
A number of conditions have been stated in the approval, including
the building of a fence to block any noise pollution.
