Quality Control

Quality control, often referred to as 'QC', is a quality process whereby all processes during production are assessed against a number of criteria to ensure the finished product meets quality standards.

Methods by which quality control is undertaken can include job/role management whilst also having well-defined and managed production processes. In addition, quality control can be implemented by ensuring the employees' involved have the correct qualifications, experience, skills and knowledge to be able to complete the job to the required standard. There are also cultural elements that will be considered during quality control, such as organisational culture and employee motivation.

The quality of the finished product can fall below the required standards quite easily if any of the above are neglected or overlooked.

QC involves running tests against the products at various points along the production process so that any defects or production errors can be recognised early and any wasted materials, time or cost can be minimised.
