Group Health & Safety Manager

To provide an advisory service on all Health and Safety matters across the group. Working alongside external bodies, reviewing company procedures, managing audits, identifying training requirements and risk assessments, the Health and Safety Manager will be involved in the development of a culture which is conducive to all teams and individuals ensuring compliance with current regulations is given the highest priority.

Health, Safety & Environment Manager

To manage all company Health, Safety and Environmental processes and activities, advising on management and legislative requirements to ensure that the company complies with the legal requirements placed on it, ensuring full compliance to audit schedule and Health and Safety training is up to date. Working closely with the management team, the Health, Safety and Environment Manager will advise on safe working practice, safe procedures, protective equipment, suitability of new equipment and advise on building matters.

The food and drink manufacturing industry actually comprises over 30 different industries. These range from slaughterhouses, sugar refineries and grain mills to malt manufacture and whisky distilling. All of which have a health and food safety responsibility. A current initiative between the food and drink industries and HSE has resulted in the overall injury rate dropping by over 50% since 1990/91. However almost a quarter of all manufacturing injuries still occur in the food industry and in a ten year period to March 2008 nearly 89,000 workers in the food and drink industries suffered an injury reportable to HSE The combined injury rate for food and drink industries is among the highest of manufacturing injury rates.
